After retirement, some of our beloved Kings and Queens become available to carefully selected permanent homes where they can spend the next chapter of their lives surrounded by love and devoted attention.
The decision to place a retired cat is never made lightly. Our cats are cherished members of our family, and their well-being remains our highest priority throughout every stage of their lives. In some cases, we believe that a retired cat will be happiest in a home where they can receive more individual attention and enjoy a quieter life as a deeply loved companion. Therefore, finding them a new family is not a step away from our responsibility to them, but an extension of it: a thoughtful decision centered entirely on what will give each cat the happiest and most fulfilling future.
We are no less selective when choosing homes for our retired cats than we are when placing our kittens. We take the time to understand each family’s household, expectations, and lifestyle so that we can identify the best possible match. Our goal is always to find the right home, one in which the cat will be loved and cherished for many years to come.
Each retired cat has an established personality and individual needs. Some prefer to be the only cat in the home and thrive when they can enjoy their family’s undivided attention. Others are social and adaptable and may do wonderfully in homes with other cats and cat-friendly dogs. We are always open and detailed about each cat’s temperament, habits, preferences, and ideal living environment so that prospective families can make a fully informed decision.
Our retired Kings and Queens are affectionate, intelligent, and beautifully socialized cats with exceptional personalities. Because they are mature, their temperaments are already well-developed, allowing us to describe them with far greater certainty than would be possible with a young kitten. This often makes it easier to choose a cat whose energy level, personality, and social needs are especially well-suited to your specific home.
Adult cats form deep and lasting bonds with their new families just as naturally as kittens do. They adjust to their new surroundings quickly and may settle in even more smoothly because they are mature. They also tend to be calmer and less demanding than young kittens while remaining playful, affectionate, curious, and deeply engaged with the people they love.
All of our breeding cats undergo comprehensive genetic and viral testing and receive attentive veterinary care throughout their lives. Before departure, each retired cat receives a health examination from a licensed veterinarian and is up-to-date on appropriate vaccinations (including FVRCP and rabies) and deworming treatments. Our retired cats are also microchipped, spayed or neutered, officially registered with WCF and accompanied by a five-generation WCF pedigree, litterbox- and scratching-post trained, and carefully socialized for life in a family home.
Although our retired cats are generally offered at a lower price than kittens, this is never a reflection of their value. These are deeply loved cats who have played an important role in our family and breeding program, and they deserve homes every bit as extraordinary as they are.
Our relationship with our retired cats and their new families does not end after adoption. We remain available to answer questions, offer guidance, and support the transition into their new home. We also deeply appreciate receiving updates and seeing them continue to thrive as cherished members of their new families.
